Frameworks

Six proprietary frameworks. Field-tested. Used in every Komselj engagement.

Each framework is an instrument — not a slide. Built to be run by your team, scored against sector benchmarks, and returned with a finding you can act on.

Framework 01 · Meta-framework

The Implementation Gap

The meta-framework underneath everything else. The Implementation Gap is the measurable distance between what an organisation says it does (in the deck, the annual report, the website) and what beneficiaries experience on the ground.

Most organisations have never named this gap, much less measured it. Komselj's instrument quantifies it across five dimensions — capacity, fidelity, equity, feedback, and adjustment — and tells you which dimension to close first.

Used in: Implementation Gap workshop, Vol. 02 workbook, free mini-diagnostic, all nonprofit retainers.

Framework 02 · Nonprofit

The Dignity Ledger

A storytelling audit across six dimensions: Naming, Framing, Image rights, Consent depth, Voice agency, and Resolution honesty.

The Dignity Ledger catches the moments your communications quietly trade beneficiary dignity for donor comfort — the white-saviour caption you didn't notice, the before-and-after that strips agency, the "story" the protagonist never agreed to. We score every artefact 1–5 on each dimension and return a marked-up version with rewrites.

Used in: Storytelling Intensive, Vol. 01 workbook, the Communications Audit project.

Framework 03 · Both audiences · bilateral

The Alignment Compass

An eight-axis fit test, run bilaterally. The same instrument is scored by the donor and by the grantee — independently, then together. Where the lines diverge is where the partnership will fail in year two.

The eight axes: thesis, time horizon, definition of impact, definition of failure, reporting cadence, decision authority, exit conditions, and what success looks like for the people being served. Most "alignment" conversations skip at least four of these.

Used in: Alignment Compass workshop, Vol. 03 workbook, free Alignment Snapshot, philanthropist retainers.

Framework 05 · Both audiences

The Proximity Index

A positioning manifesto plus a six-test audit. The six tests: Origin, Voice, Resolution, Loop speed, Decision weight, Cost honesty.

Proximity is the marker of whether an organisation is actually close to the people it claims to serve — not close in branding, close in practice. The index makes proximity legible: who started the work, who speaks for it, how fast feedback returns, who actually decides, and what the proximity costs.

Used in: Available as a free 6-test self-audit PDF. Referenced across all retainer work.

Framework 06 · Nonprofit

The Raise

A seven-stage major-donor pitch methodology. VC-adapted, carefully, for the very different physics of philanthropic capital.

The seven stages: Origin story, Thesis, Theory of change, Traction, Ask architecture, Risk & honesty, Close. The Raise teaches major-gift fundraisers to pitch with venture discipline without adopting venture's pathologies — the unfounded scale claims, the hockey-stick projections, the "exit" thinking that has no equivalent in mission work.

Used in: The Raise workshop, Vol. 06 Field Manual.

Most teams start with one framework.

The free diagnostic audits tell you which one. Ten minutes, scored against sector benchmarks, no call required.
