FAQs : Philanthropy Advisory
What does a philanthropy advisor do?
1
A philanthropy advisor helps individuals, families, and organizations design strategic giving plans, vet nonprofit partners, measure impact, and align charitable contributions with personal values and long-term goals. At Komselj, we go beyond traditional advising to act as embedded strategic partners.
How is Komselj different from a wealth manager or financial advisor?
2
Wealth managers focus on the financial structure of giving (tax efficiency, vehicles, asset transfer). Komselj focuses on the strategy and impact of giving — what to fund, why, with whom, and how to measure success. We work alongside your financial team, not in place of them.
Do I need a foundation to work with Komselj?
3
No. We work with individual philanthropists, donor-advised fund holders, family foundations, and corporate giving programs. Many of our clients begin without any formal giving structure and we help them decide whether one is right for them.
What giving levels do you typically work with?
4
Our clients generally direct $250K–$25M annually toward philanthropic causes, though we tailor every engagement to the donor's capacity and ambition.
